DairySage Mentoring is an exciting capacity building initiative developed by WestVic Dairy and The People in Dairy program with funding provided by the Geoffrey Gardiner Dairy Foundation.
DairySage is a three year, $250,000 project to establish a mentoring framework in the Victorian dairy industry partnering experienced, inspirational and dynamic mentors with dairying people from all sectors of the industry; including the farm, manufacture and service sectors.
The DairySage program conducted six introduction training workshops throughout Victoria over the past three years. These workshops were designed to provide participants, both mentors and mentees, with the necessary skills to set up them up for successful mentoring partnerships.
The project aims to provide the Australian dairy industry with a sustainable framework to establish mentoring relationships; by partnering experienced, inspirational and dynamic mentors with dairying people from all sectors of the industry; including the farm, manufacture and service sectors.
Through mentoring the Australian dairy industry has an excellent opportunity to develop its people. Mentoring is a proven human development tool and there are many benefits to the mentor, mentee and dairy industry.
Partnerships will be supported by a ‘mentoring manual’ written specifically for the dairy industry which includes workshop training notes and also suggestions for partnership activities, how to communicate and how often and tips for constructive reflection through giving and receiving feedback.
